I think Dick's has a sale on golf Top Flite balls.. 15 for $10 or something like that.. They used to have 30 for $15 (I think).. There are also "refurbished balls" available at some places.. Good Luck with your game.

i hear that those Nike unwound balls designed for Tiger and now available to the public are horrible in that novices' mistakes are maginified unf-fold, even if their sales jump dramaticially after a Tiger win :p

lower compression(90 and lower) are easier to hit than higher ones and go cheap because you will loose quite a few of them.

If you are a beginner, there will be no appreciable difference between balls. My recommendation is to find a place (most pro shops) that sells loose balls. You can find deals like 5 for $1 or whatever. Just stock up.

The Top Flite Magna is a decent ball as it helps to prevent the slice, a common malady for novice golfers. The Magna is oversized and has fewer dimples all which help reduce spin and thus the slice. The drawbacks are it is a bigger ball w/ less spin so it is much more subject to the whims of the wind.

If you are a beginner, buy the cheapest ones you can find, because you are going to be loosing a BUNCH...

Usually your local golf course or pro shop has a bin of balls that have been found out on the course...

Usually the price is like 2 or 3 for $1.00

Get the round ones, j/k.
If you have a target or wal-mart nearby, just find the ones that have 15-18 in a box for around $7-9. They will suit you just fine until you get the knack of hitting it straight, learn that first before you go for distance.

Helpless is right. But if you still want the satisfaction of pulling out a sleeve of new balls, since there is definetly a macho thing associated with it, TC 2's. I like them because they are affordable, and they give a good balance between distance and control.

Yea, I admit...to just take a sleeve of 3 balls out with you and crack them open on the 1st tee-box is great ;) ...but took me a few years till I got those kind of....balls! :)

Walk through the woods instead of down the fairway and look for balls. You can find enough balls to play all summer with! Have your kid bro or sis go with and do nothing but look for balls. Tell them you will give them a dollar for every 5 balls they give you. I have a 5 gallon pale of balls by doing this!

If you're just a beginner, don't worry about your game on the course yet. I'd just head to your local driving range. Pay for a couple of buckets of balls and wear yourself out. Get your swing down and switch up clubs as well to get the feel of the irons and the pitch. Spend a few nights a week there for a few months. Then hit the course. ;) And for cheap balls, I agree. You can get many loose balls at the pro shop for cheap money...Just be sure to tell them "Vinnie" sent you.

I would just go to Sports Authority/Target/etc and try to find Top Flite XL X-outs. These are slightly flawed balls (usually just the logo paint or something) that are even cheaper than the regular version. Don't bother with more expensive balls until you're not losing a bunch each round (you will...I've been there:eek:)
