I just got the following from a friend for $20.00 (couldn't resist the price):
1) Tekram KX133A mobo (KX133 Chipset)
2) Slot A Athlon 950mhx CPU
3) 64 mb PC133 sdram

This equipment came out of a PC that he just upgraded to a KT333 setup.
He also claimed it was one of the most stable setups that he ever had, I guess we will see.

Q-1) What are the best VIA 4-1's for this board for:
1) Windows 98
2) Windows 2000

Q-2) Do the Sound and Modem chips work OK on this board or should thay be disabled in leu of real sound and modem cards?

Q-3) The manual only shows how to enable the sound or modem or both, but not how to completely disable them.
I assume that taking all of the jumpers off will disable both, Is this correct?

1- Use the latest 4-in-1 drivers(4.38) for both 98 & 2k.

2 - onboard sound/modem should work ok(I presume you`ve the drivers for them ),but getting a better sound card like Audigy or Santa Cruz will give you better sound quality.

3- Normally it`s done in the bios or on older boards by jumpers, check your manual for correct method, however taking the jumper off should disable it,check in bios to make sure you`ve no settings in there as well.

VIA Arena driver section .

Yes, the sound and modem are set with jumpers. The problem is that the manual shows jumper configurations for Sound or Modem or Both, but does not actually identify that No Jumpers = complete disable of both.

I guess that we will just have to experiment.

Thanks for the response.
