What are acceptable e-mail addresses?

I just read the update about moving to VB and the need to have valid, working e-mail addresses.

Am I able to use a Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail address?

If not, any suggestions about where to sign up for an e-mail service that is acceptable to the AT forums?

Yes, you can use those emails.

Cool, I remember when I signed up Yahoo and Hotmail weren't acceptable. Gmail wasn't even alive then.

Thanks Olds.

Currently, according to the FAQ:

"3. Below is a list of E-mail services that were banned due to abuse, and will not be re-activated upon user request.

AOL
Bigfoot
Excite
Gotoworld
Nightmail
Whitehouse
All domains operated by portofevil.com, aka evilemail.com

4. In addition to the above, all of AOL's system is banned from the forums; this includes their IP addresses. This means that even if you sign up with a different E-mail address, you will not be able to post if you connect to the internet using their service."

Will the + symbol pass as valid?

Anyone know, or should I just take out the + symbol in case?
I don't see what an email address would have to do with the new forum software. I would assume if it's a valid address, it will work.
I believe Common Courtesy tested this but I am not sure. Maybe he will chime in.

We have tested a couple of special characters for email addys and they checked out fine.
The same goes with passwords.

The issue (as was suspected by the staff) is the names themselves.

We do not have a dummy email accounts for all special characters, so people will have to make sure that they have the email addy of AT available if needed.
