For those of you who have successfully contacted AT&T wireless recently, you have probably noticed that they implemented a new system for their CSRs. This system is hideously buggy (according to them) and seems to be tripling their average call time -- disastrous for a call center.
In any case, it has become near impossible to contact a CSR at AT&T wireless. My g/f and I have tried at least 15 times over the past 2 weeks to contact them. We have not yet been able to get through after being on hold for as little as 45 minutes and as long as 2.5 hours.
Now, the problem:
My g/f moved to Los Angeles from Colorado Springs. In doing so, she requested that AT&T move her local calling area from the 719 area code to the 310. The following happened WITHOUT HER CONSENT:
1. Added one year to her contract
2. Billed her for activation -- TWICE (???)
3. Billed her for the original number (pro-rated), her new number (pro-rated) and a THIRD number which came out of nowhere.
Now, her bill, which should have been about $100, is $195.
Despite our efforts we have not been able to talk to an AT&T rep. The reps at the local store are about as effective as "Henchman #3" in any given action movie. My g/f can and will NOT pay this bill. Do we have any legal recourse here? I.e., fax a notice that the bill will NOT be paid unless we can get it corrected?
