What appl should I use to convert mpg files to avi?

Can anyone recommend an appl that can convert mpg files to the AVI format?

I have a Phillips DVD player which will play AVI files and I have a lot of mpg files.

A quick and easy way would be to use WinAVI, it is very fast and the quality is reasonable. It's an all in one program.

Personally tho I'd convert the mpg files to DVD format. Doesn't really make much sense converting to xvid (unless you are trying to save space on your hard disk).
