I'm going to say grep, because at work, I probably use grep at least 500 times per day. If I didn'nt have grep, I'd have to learn how to do things a different way, or I would starve. Assuming I am too stupid to learn how to do things a different way, then starvation would cause death eventually. Thus, I say grep, LITERALLY.
