What antivirus for Windows 2000?

I've got someone I know that has 3 computers with Windows 2000 on them that is fed up with Norton. I'm pretty far away though and she's a fairly old lady - she can handle installing the software but it should be something that she could find in a store/order. I guess something downloadable might be fine too...but this is all pretty beside the point.

Are there any current antivirus programs that work on 2000 or do I need to find something old that will work? These are business computers so they need to have good security.

AntiVir's Personal Edition Premium works on Win2000. It's not free (their free version isn't licensed for business/commercial use) but it's quite cheap and has fairly good detection rates.

For securing a Win2000 system, particularly a business system, also:

1) check the computers with Secunia's online checkup and the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer, and address the issues they show you, including the RestrictAnonymous setting in Local Security Policy.

2) upgrade the Automatic Updates agent to Microsoft Update by going to the Microsoft Update website, and then go back for the updates repeatedly until they're fully patched.

3) there's huge value in using a non-Admin user account, which is called a Restricted User account on Win2000. Save the Administrator account only for actual Admin work, like installing/removing software, and have everyone use a non-Admin account for all daily-driver stuff if possible. more info on non-Admin user accounts

4) Disable Auto-Play to prevent infected USB/flash drives, memory cards, cameras, MP3 players etc from infecting the computers.

With multiple computers, I'm assuming they have a router as a perimeter firewall.

MY gf's parents still have an old P3 computer with Win2k on it. I just put AntiVir on it and its been fine.
