There are a few games mentioned in posts in this thread that I got when they came out and still haven't got round to playing (or haven't finished yet, anyway). The original Deus Ex, Planescape, System Shock 2...think I have (uncompleted) saved games from all of them on CDR somewhere...one day will finish them, I'm sure...
(There's also this which I never quite finished...but I'd have to first get the emulator working...)

I was playing through Icewind Dale and its expansion (HoW) recently on the Steam remastered EE. Also occasionally play Rollercoaster Tycoon 2. Earlier in the year, I was also playing through the original StarCraft campaigns.

Took a break from my usual age of empires 2, to play some Rome: total war.

I have about 300 free games on my epic account, about 100 in steam from various humble bundles and maybe 50 on gog.
For some reason I just keep playing these old games,

Fate (2006) from Wild Tangent, a dungeon crawler. Full game is 40 levels, I'm nearing 18,000 levels. Simple game, gives me plenty of time to think and/or listen to music while playing.

All of the X-wing/Tie fighter simulators are some of the best "ancient" games ever! Managing the lasers/shields/speed and diverting power between them to stay in the battle while being blasted from all sides would be thrilling for me even today. I remember that my last ditch attempt at saving my fighter would be to run off into empty space with all power diverted to my engines. I would get as far as possible, regenerate my shields and then come back with a vengeance and blow the rebels/empire scum to bits. Every single one of them. And then I would take on the Star Destroyers (taking out their shield generators and laser turrets and then coming to a standstill and keep firing lasers and torpedoes until the damn ship met its fiery explosive death!). Sometimes, the capital ships were clever enough to run off into hyperspace to escape me. That felt so good :D

I fire up Open TTD every once in a while, its more or less just an upgraded Transport Tycoon

Fired up Quake a while ago and messed with the ole lightning gun again.

Still think Total Annihilation with Core Contingency is the best RTS ever.

Diablo 2 is my favorite action rpg type game. Though i did play D3 with some friends for a while, it didn't hold my attention nearly as well.

Rogue Squadron was my favorite back in the day. Loved flying all the different style ships. Still have the install disk, so maybe I'll fire it up. The only bad part back then was futzing with my serial port joystick to get it to work.

Just finished Quake 2 again.....discovered some Duke Nukem 3D maps I made years ago, so I got the 20th Anniversary edition. Time to kick ass and chew bubble gum
I think Quake (maybe Quake II) is the only game I have gotten into at all. Didn't play it really long but dug it. This must have been the 1990s, maybe late 90's. I had a free version, don't know where/how I got it. Playing on my PC, of course. I might have the install on my NAS, don't know.

i got myst when i was 12 and couldn't figure it out

but i finally beat it 25 years later and felt so proud of myself lol
I have the CD, haven't done anything with it. It had a big rep at one point, really different, non-violent, almost poetic?

Check out No One Lives Forever. It's abandonware at this point so there's a website dedicated to offering the download for negative cost (that being your time :D)

It has to be one of the funniest shooters in existence. It's like the female version of James Bond, but much much more lighthearted and fun.

I remember that one. I believe its Sequel was really solid too. I seem to recall the co-operative missions were quite good too, very uncommon for FPS to have a good co-op gameplay.

Last winter I played Telengard (circa 1982) for a really long time... it's an amazingly simple but addicting old school dungeon crawl.
