Best impulse buying decision I've made in a while. I went to deposit a check at the bank and saw a toy store. I went in a pick up a few items for the Toy for Tots drive at the office. Next thing I know I was pushing out two shopping carts. :) :) :) :) :)

I really don't know how much I spent since I was loading the cart and just signed the receipt and left. I really don't care how much it is. Hell I'd probably just blow it all on useless junk anyway.

C'mon folks, if were posting then we're lucky. Scrape up $10 and get a kid a gift this season. You'll feel better at night.

Agreed!

And remember - The kids who recieve these toys are kids like any others, so try to purchase toys they might actually like, and aim for an age range in your purchases.

The Food Banks and Toys for Kids always need help around the holidays!

Nice going Windogg!
Actually my daughters and I adopted a child through the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren at Catholic Social Services, I purchased some toys for a local Christian Kids Camp our business supports every year and sent a donation to a home for troubled boys.

Christmas will be a little rougher this year after the separation so I've been doing extra for charities involving children.

You're right, it does feel good.

We are not all in the same financial position as you Windogg. I'd like to get toys for kids that have nothing, but since I have no money, I cant do something that generous.

I'll have to find something I can do that wont cost me anything. But what though...

Stefan check with a local food bank or toy drive and see if they need any volunteers to help distribute toys.

Remember, buying gifts is easy but donating time is the real charitable gift. ;)

A little OT - but helping out the less fortunate can give you a great feeling inside. I've been to a local soup kitchen before, and donating some time has left me feeling good about myself and others who were there. So help out the less fortunate - you won't regret it :)

Our group adopted a Christmas Angel, and I'm going to buy her clothes and they are buying her toys. She's 4 1/2 and in a foster home :(
We are also going Christmas Carolling at a nursing home. I'm also helping the BSA with a food drive too.

Windogg - Great Job Man!!!!!

Good work fellas. :)

This is my home page in IE...

I click on the link on that page to "donate" food about 40 times a day. :)

I plan on working in a soup kitchen or donating something this holiday season, I've been so fortunate and I'm having such a great year that I feel that it would be nice to give some back to the community.

i'll like to spread the fact that the value of happiness is priceless.

i don't think spending a few dollars on a needy kid is not too much to ask

for, especially for so many fortunate people out there.

it's time to take action and turn a new leaf :)

Giving is such a joy in our hearts... and it should be encouraged! However, remember what Jesus tells us about giving...

Matthew 6:
1. "Be careful not to do your `acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.
2. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
3. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
4. so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

Trust me here, keeping to the above adds tremendously to the joy of giving! :) Even if you don't believe in Jesus.

giving is caring. i'm signing up for some voluteering this year like the years before. but its fun. i love seeing other people when they are enjoying themselves even though they don't have much. everyone should help at least one person this xmas season. the only thing i wish for is that the unfortunate need help all year round, not just during xmas. i highly encourage everyone to help out someone all year round as well. thanks windogg for your caring.

I find it ironic that we choose to let millions die of hunger around the world, yet we find it more important to concentrate on helping kids get toys in this country (USA). We really do not realize how well off we have it in the developed world.

I suppose that is the cynic in me.

I in no way am trying to cut on you, Windogg. I am not saying that charity is dumb. Anything you do for others is a good thing. I am just trying to provoke some thought on the matter.

poop, your right. There are kiids all over the Globe dying everyday, not only here in America.

We donate money to an Orginization called World Vision each month, we have a boy named Energy Mafu who lives in zimbabwai(sp). We get a letter at least 3 times a year and pictures. He is 8 years old. We are going to send him some extra funds that can go directly to the WV host there because the Family goat died a few weeks ago. :( Can you imagine your most prised possesion being a goat, makes me sad to think about it.

On the home front our Dentist has a giving tree in his lobby with the names of needy kids on it and on Saturday we are going to go pick out some names and get my Sons picture with the Santa that will be there. :)

But like has been said earlier, time is one of the most precious gifts some one can give. Go to a soup kitchen and volunteer, help donate clothes, work at the local food bank.

I have done all of these and it is a great feeling to see the smile on someones face knowing that you took the time to help out where most people would just turn a blind eye.

Good job windogg! I wish I had the money to do that. Heheh :)

My parents do something similar but they donate money in Pakistan. I mean some people there don't even have enough to eat! So I guess that counts as me donating as well till I get older and get a job.

Like I said it was an impulse buy. I do donate to many causes but this one just ended up a little larger than expected.
