First... EWWWWW

2nd, she is quite talented.

3rd, she's cute, for a kid.

4th, some college acceptance faculty will raise at least one eyebrow...

I should clarify my own comments probably.

I said "Well there's a reason not to homeschool.

I don't know why i'm so wierded out by that but I am. That's icky.... "

I don't mean to imply that homeschooling necessarily means wierd but one must admit that it is the impression this site leaves one with.

Now, I'm the father of two daughters. I can't imagine either of them skinning an animal, at least not for pleasure. The thought of such disturbs me mildly. To me, Taxidermy and the preservation of dead animals is mildly disturbing in general.

Taxidermy is outside of the norm as a hobby for a 15 year old girl or boy. In our society it is especially unusual for a girl. If my daughter wanted to persue such an avenue I would have to question her motives for doing so. There are far less disturbing and socially acceptable venues for self expression. Let's dispose of or eat dead animals not mount them for display.

actually, i'd just like to point out the fact that a lot of serial killers had fascinations with dead animals. dahmer was among one of them. i'm not really implying that she'll become a serial killer but i just thought i'd just let everyone think about that. although, she could just enjoy stuffing dead animals. *shrug*, if so....do whatever makes you happy i guess. =/

Good Lord you people are a bunch of pansies!

I dont much care for the skinning of animals, but it's because I don't like getting dirty. I like my hands clean, no biological mess for me to clean up. My brother, however, has skinned more small animals than I can count. Moles, gophers, squirrels, a beaver (it was roadkill, hit during the peak of winter - perfect coat), you name it. He has squirrel skins tacked to the inside of his closet door.

Yet he's an absolutely normal 14 (now 15) year old. On his wall he has a 75 lb compound bow, a 20 gauge shotgun, a .22 rifle, & several pellet guns. He has his hunting license, and is quite a good shot with the rifle (he can take a squirrels head off from a distance at which I cannot even see the squirrel).

There is absolutely nothing wrong, abnormal, or troublesome about this.

You people are just entirely too fond of cute little animals with bushy tails. Well where I come from, those cute little animals eat enough nuts to equal two rows of trees all the way around the orchard. They're a pest, an expensive pest. My brother killed over 50 of them last summer.

And I say good for him.

:p
