hey, so i need to write this resume so i can get an interview at microsoft for an internship....... but it must be lack of self esteem or something, because i don't think i have a lot to put on there... i took some programming classes and basically kicked ass in them... i work for what amounts to be the IT dept on campus.... but i've never actually done any programming for work. what's a junior in college to put on a resume? grades? :p

kami, ameesh, descartes.... any other people... help would be appreciated :)

Any work experience you might have. Volunteer work (if you're an Eagle Scout, list it prominently), etc. Grades. References, maybe? Not sure if that's common on resumes or not.

Emphasize your academic achievements. Also, you can include an area to list your relevant skills.

Don't forget your name, address, and phone number. Companies like that kind of stuff to be included.

Any project s that youve done? places you have volunteered at, they love stuff that you did on your own time, like some little program or script to make your daily life easier or maybe you did something with software that would have been a real drag to do with out computers.

i think we need some info before we can help gussy up a resume. if you dont feel comfortable posting it pm me.

thanks for the advice guys :)

ameesh... hmm well right now i'm working on a project, getting mailman (list server software) ready for heavy use (we're switching from listproc to mailman). i don't do any coding for that though (if i ever do, it will be in python). i made a bunch of websites for nonprofits... wrote little php script to let people to subscribe to mailing list (it's cool, i got it to verify addresses by verifying mx dns records) :p i hacked some korn shell scripts out for my work... they're really simple though. i think my favorite *programming* accomplishment is making a clone of drug wars :) that's about all i can think of right now... if i had more time i would have done more stuff on my own time... but as it is, i'm so busy worrying about school, i don't have very much time to do all the programming stuff i want to do :(
