Whenever I get a pervious tenants mail it just goes right in the trash. Not very much just a few things every once and a while.

Options:
1. Open it and read it. Then throw it away.
2. Put "RETURN TO SENDER" on it and stick it back in your box.
3. Trash it.

I would do the 'return to sender' thing for about a month. Then screw them - they should have taken care of the new address, their crap is going in the trash.

Leave the mailman a note telling him that those people don't live in the apartment anymore, and tell him your name (and others in the apartment if applicable) so he will know who lives there now.

I've been living here for two months and I get the occasional mail addressed to the old tenant.

if it's a catalog, magazine, or anything that looks like junk mail, I just toss it.

letters get "RETURN TO SENDER"-d

We've lived in our house for over 8 years and STILL get mail for the previous owners.

We've tried talking to the mail delivery people, we've put notes in the mailbox, we've complained to the postmaster. Nothing has stopped it...

Fortunately, most of the stuff nowadays is crap mail from the many religious organizations they belonged to (owner was a preacher of some kind) so I can just toss it in the trash. At first, it was bills and other relatively important mail, and we took time to either return it to sender with "Not at this address" on the envelope, or forwarded it when we had an address. Now, in the "round file."

I'm in a similar situation. After years of attempting to stem the tide of previous-owner mail I now have no compunction against tossing it.

Post who the current occupants are clearly on the mailbox, inside on the lid and outside it.

After that attempt, use the crap they keep dropping in your mailbox and sending you anyhow in the fireplace. Makes great kindling.

Or look them up on google and try to contact them. I am sure they are desperately missing that new Fingerhut catalog or the summons to appear in court for those traffic tickets and child support they skipped out on.

Maybe take up blackmail or identity theft as a new income source.

write "return to sender", "address unknown", "wrong address" or something on it and drop it into a blue mail box
do this for 2-3 months
after that, just put it with your other junk mail
