What am I sick with?

Very strange sequence of events...

I woke up at 7AM on Wednesday with a slight scratchy throat. Took Vitamin C, echinacea, garlic and colloidal silver to try and help fight it off(yeah yeah, it may not do anything but it isn't going to hurt anything either).

By 5PM, the sore throat was almost gone and I thought I had won another round(lots of people sick at work lately). However, then at around 9PM it came back with vengence. Only the right side of my throat was very sore, but I developed a fever. I didn't take my temperature, but I felt pretty hot to other people. Didn't sleep well, tossed and turned, chills, aches, etc.

When I woke up Thursday morning, my fever had broken and my sore throat was completely gone, but I was still very achey and under the weather. Didn't go in to work. I was able to eat dinner, and was fairly chipper by the evening, considering.

Today I'm woozy, but about 80% of normal, slightly achey with a bit of a runny nose.

Yesterday really felt like I had been sick with the flu for 3-4 days, and it was the first day I had started to recover. Except all this happened in 24 hours. Really strange. It's not possible to only have the flu for 24 hours, is it? I've never had a regular cold give me such an intense fever, body aches, etc.

😕

That happened to me a year ago. I thought it was a parasite or something but I never found out for sure.

Definitely sounds like some kind of virus infection; something similar went around the office where I work at (we had 5 people call in sick with sore throats over the course of 2 weeks), and it hit me pretty hard as well. When I went to the doctor they took a throat culture and told me it wasn't strep and that most likely I just had a virus. It most likely was a flu virus derivative of some sort, but they never sent me back the specific name of which virus it was.

Whenever I get a flu I always get the body aches.

Sounds a bit like strep throat (2 of my kids just diagnosed w/ it too)

In all seriousnessess it does sound like that based on my prior experience with it. In a day or two if your throat starts feeling like you gargled with razor blades and chased it with lemon juice you'll want to get that shit swabbed and cultured.

Why on earth would "colloidal silver" help at all?

I knew I shouldn't have even bothered to post that...

Silver has antibiotic properties. This is well known.

You should be questioning the use of vitamin C and echinacea first.

My throat was never very sore, overall. I've had strep before, and it was nothing like that.

I don't have a sore throat anymore, just a slightly runny nose.. but my sinuses are clear. It was just really strange to be knocked out like that for 24 hours, but more or less be fine during the 24 hours before and after.

A shot of alcohol will do more for your mouth, throat, and stomach than drinking colloidal silver. The silver is not more useful in the body than other options. Unless maybe you have an infection in your digestive tract but consuming more of normal stomach bacteria such as Lactobacillus Acidophilus available in yogurt or even from the pharmacy without a prescription, would work better.

Hot tea with lemon and honey once each hour or two is the best for a sore throat.

The heat and tannic acid from the tea help to dissolve and wash away mucus in the throat. The lemon adds vitamin C in a natural form and the citric acid part also helps break up mucus. The honey helps to coat the throat to soothe scratching.

I wasn't just drinking it, I was gargling with it for as long as I could, then swallowing. I agree that just drinking it isn't going to get the silver particles where they need to go.

I had some, so I utilized it. Like I said, it may not help at all, but if there's a 0.0001% chance that it killed even a single invading microorganism, then it was worth it.

colloidal silver? wtf for?

anyways, sounds like you had the flu, but i've never heard of it lasting only a day. it was probably just some virus going around that mimics the flu

I would have thought you of all people would understand the colloidal silver thing. 😛

It's antibiotic. The thought behind it was to make my throat just that much more inhospitable to the invaders. Shrug.

Taking the things I did is a lot better than just bending over and letting the bacteria/virus have their way with you. Then going to the store and buying cold "medicine" that does nothing but mask symptoms.
