What am I missing/doing wrong with Epox 8kta3l mboard setup?

Epox 8kta3l+ with 1.1 tbird, 512mb crucial pc133 ram, Win2K, Maxtor 30gb. When I try to install w2k, after setup drivers are installed, I get an error page about some dll or other stuff missing. I get sunwin errors when I try installing W98 also. However, If I install a Duron 700, I have no problems at all installing any OS. Dip switches are set to default, as well all bios settings. So I ask, what am I missing, doing wrong with this setup?......memory?......voltage settings?.......cpu ratio?.............please I need help!....thanks.

If you can get into the CMOS setup change the settings to failsafe defaults.
How much stuff have you got installed? Strip the box down to the bare essentials, Vid card, Memory, CPU, HD.
Once you get an OS loaded immediately install the VIA drivers that came with the mobo.
