Long story short, my current Z87 board died and I need to a replacement ASAP. I was originally going to go for a modern ASUS Z97 board, but I am seeing Z87 boards dirt cheap after MIR.
What am I losing by going with Z87 over Z97 other than SATA Express/M.2 support? I am running a 4590K so I assume a BIOS flash will be required since the 4590 was a "Haswell Refresh" but I have an i3-4130 that I can pop in for BIOS flashing purposes.
In other words, should I go with the cheaper Z87 board, given that I don't give two hoots about SATA Express/M.2, or should I go with the Z97. Oh, and I have no intention of upgrading to Broadwell-K when it comes out either.
