i'm trying to get XP home back on my laptop after it got wiped out. I insert the XP cd into the drive and turn it on. I enter the bios to make sure the cd is what is booting first. After i exit the bios i get a message that sayd "press any key to boot from cd" if i push a button the blue screen set up thing will install some files and then when it says "setup is starting windows" it' does nothing after that. If i don't push the button, windows ME loads because it's the only Microsoft OS I was able to install.

I don't know why...I don't know how, but i just tried it again and the install actually worked this time. GO ME!!

I've had the same problem many times before. It's either your cd-rom drive or your install cd. Try another cd first. If it does the same thing, try that cd in a different cd-rom drive. It will surely work.
