What am I doing wrong with Bluetooth Headsets?

Ok so I just bought a Plantronics M50 - 800 reviews on Amazon with a 4 star rating.

So everyone just complains about it - they can hear every single little noise i make, typing, walking, drinking, breathing, while my actual voice is low or staticy. If I type it sounds like the loudest thing in the world and they yell at me... if I speak they can't hear me.

Is this me? Does this headset suck? Do they all suck?

I've never been a fan of "headsets" that put the microphone next to your ear instead of next to your mouth. Any mic that can pick up your voice from there will also pick up every other nearby sound.

You're not doing anything wrong. Headsets all just suck. Get one with a boom mic if you want quality that is even better than a phone handset (however, the quality will no be realizable since cell phone network providers compress your voice so much).

I have a Platronics Voyager 975 and it's great sound quality. The thing with blue tooth headsets is that if you buy anything other than a higher end, in loud environments it's not going be great. I can talk in really loud areas and they can hear me just fine.
