I can't decide between a Lian Li PC65 and a Cool Master ATC 201. The Lian Li has the window I want for 165 bucks. The cool master is $199 without a window.

Just wondering what peeps are using and how they like it.

Luv my PC60. The slide out MB tray is worth having.

I see Lian-Li has replaced the chinsey plastic usb door with an aluminum one.

I recently bought a PC-65 case and just built my first computer. Yeah, so I'm a little buyist and I haven't experienced many other cases (besides my old dell), but I love my case. I know the PC-65 on newegg comes with a fourth fan on top (that's what I bought) and the fans that come with it are quiet (much quieter than I expected, which was a nice surprise). The case is beautiful and all the screws are thumbscrews making it very easy to take apart. Do a search and try to find some reviews. I've read a few and I haven't heard a bad thing about it. My friend was thinking about a Coolermaster case, and then he saw mine, and bought the PC-65. On top of all of this, I just installed a blue cold cathode, and it's so pretty. Anyway, that's just my two cents.

I too have a lian-li pc 65. I could go on and on about how good it is, but I don't think its necessary.

Definitely Coolermaster, it's simply a better case. The ATC 201 has a much nicer finish and more refined look, whether or not you think it looks better is a different issue. Just picking up the case you can tell it is constructed better than the Lian Li, it's more solid and sturdy feeling down to the slide out motherboard tray, though it is still light. The interior is a quite a bit roomier and easier to work with. Both use thumbscrew for everything. The only thing I like better on the Lian Li is the removable face plate, though that wouldn't be a deciding factor for me unless everything else was even. You just get the impression that more effort was put into the Coolermaster and greater attention was paid to detail, when you look at things like the metal machined power button vs the plastic on the Lian Li, and the plastic feet on the Lian Li compared to the nice metal and no slip rubber feet on the ATC 201. If you want a window in your case, go with the Lian Li because putting one in a Coolermaster would sort of be like putting ground-effects and a racing stripe on a Mercedes, it just wouldn't look right.

Lian-Li PC-65.

Here's a picture that I took just now. One nice thing about the PC-6x is that darker color of the bezel around the 5.25" and 3.5" drives on the front make the beige color of most drives not look as wierd. The darker color offsets it. This was probably the selling point for me for the PC-65 - that and the speed controls for the fans.

(for the curious those are removeable IDE drives below the CD-RW and DVD. The master is in, and the slot for the slave is empty right now)

The Lian Li PC 65 is the way to go. The slide out mobo tray is worh the $$. If you have beige drives I recomend krylon metalic spray paint. Looks great.

Actually, Li-Li's have been improving from the first run models. The PC-60's first made are not the same as the ones made now. One of the most noteable improvements is the new buttons on the new face plate, which are no longer that cheesy dark grey plastic square deal of the past (they're flush with the rest of the bezel, with some cool oval blue and red LED's instead of the puke yellow and green of the past).

I do have to agree that some of the Coolermasters do have a better build quality, but for a higher price (I've seen PC60's go for $129 at very, very reputable sites [www.so-trickcomputers.com], while the ATC201 still hovers at $178 at Newegg). I think of the Li-Li's as the mainstream products of the aluminum case world, and Coolermasters as the higher end (with PoS stuff like Skyhawk being the budget sector). Forty bucks can go a long way toward other purchases (like new fans for that aluminum case, since I hate the stock fans that come with both the Li-Li's and Coolermasters.

Windows on an ATC201 would look pretty good if done right, probably something akin to the PC-65's window style. But most DIY window mods have that molding which I think would look like ass on the ATC201 (well, I think molding looks like ass regardless, but especially on the ATC201).

Personally, if I were to get yet another aluminum case, I'd go for the ATC110. I tend to dislike doors that cover optical drives, but sometimes I just don't feel like making/buying/painting faceplates to match aluminum. Li-Li is definitely not a bad choice though. There's a reason why they're the standard.

Go with a Lian Li. The Coolermasters look better, but the Lian Li's are easier to work with, in my experience. It is all about useability.

Yea I have the Lian-Li PC65 case as well and I love it. I would go as far as saying it is best the case that I have seen in awhile.

The PC-65 ships with a front bezel? All of the pictures I've seen of it, except for your case, don't have one; e.g., http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp?image=11-112-017-01.JPG/11-112-017-02.JPG/11-112-017-03.JPG/11-112-017-04.JPG.

Got a Super Flower 201 with windows from Directron. I probably would not get the windows again since I do not plan on putting in lights like the case is a Honda Civic. The windows are acrylic and seem more of a scratch liability than anything else, but the case is amazing. The brushed aluminum finish is beautiful in black, and there are no sharp edges. Four installed 80mm fans is nice too. At $178 it's expensive, but well worth it. The non-window version goes for about $150 I think. I don't know about other brands, but you can't go wrong with this one.

Anyone know the quality of Enermax cases? I want a red case and enermax is the only aluminum red case I can seem to find that looks halfway decent?
But I'm wary of spending that much on a case without seeing some reviews or something.

This is probably not an entirely fair comparison, but I have an older Lian Li PC10 and a new Coolermaster 201C, and the latter shines above the former RE build quality.

I have the very original PC60 and I still think it's a brilliant case. I would get Lian Li again. Never been overly struck on the CM cases but they are all very nice.

I like both the Lian Li and the Coolermaster ones(especially the ATC110 cause it has a front cover that will hide offcolor drives without paint), but the Lian Li is the better priced than any Coolermaster case. There's a better selection in Lian Li too I think.

Whatever you think, I still find aluminum cases way too pricey for what you get(ie. bare case with no psu). I got an Antec case with a psu for a much better deal than any bare aluminum case talked about here(heh of course it is as heavy as a boat anchor too).

If I bought 5 or 6 cases a year (which some people at AT seem to) then I would agree. However, since I plan on using my lian-li for quite awhile, I consider it worth the extra $$.

I'm going with the Cooler master 201. It just looks like a better case. The window thing is no biggie, I could always dremmel out one later if I want. I found the 201 for $172, so thats not bad.
