What alternative to IP35-E do I have?

No, at $110 it isn't such a hot deal. Not too bad, either. Your other choice in the cheaper P35 boards is the Gigabyte P35-D3SL, which is also a great, cheap motherboard.

MSI P35 Neo2-FR got the final nod in Anandtech's Holiday guide over the Gigabyte and Abit although those are in the top three budget boards.
