I won't because I am not that type of person who will work 55-60 hours a week to get ahead. I like being with my family too much.
Plus, 100K is not equal to 100K everywhere.
I live in Louisiana and we have a decent house and pay a mortgage of 1,200 while there are some living in much higher cost areas paying more than that on rent.
Pay is relative to where you live.
I'm sure I could make a decent amount more if I were willing to move to a bigger city.

Yeah... Honestly, a $75K a year job in a low cost of living area is probably better than a $100K a year job in the Boston, NYC, or San Francisco metro areas. Your dollar is going go a LOT farther out there Iowa or Kansas! Those guys are probably not paying over $1,000 a month for rent or $4.50 a gallon for gas... yet.

Rent will run 800-1200 depending what you get. We had a really, really nice apartment for 820. 2 bedroom, 2 bath, small kitchen, big living room with a deck that had been turned into a sunroom.
Gas is just under 4 most places.
You could probably land rent in the 6-8 range in a decent part of town if you step down to a 1 bedroom.

What age did u break $100k per year salary mark.? Granted that it depends on where you live and most people on AT get 8 figure 1st jobs what would be a realistic estimate for a six figure salary expectation. 4 years - 6 years -8 years or may 2-3 job changes

Yeah we get it. Some people lie about their income... it happens on forums. Good lord. These posts are more common than the posts where people actually lie. It's gotten old... older than the soviet russia jokes.

i graduated in may '05 with my masters, set a goal for myself of 6 figures in three years. I got annoyingly close but didn't reach it. I should reach in the next six months to a year. Oh well, I'm living a really nice life so I can't complain.
For me, the drive to reach the goal was there. Being Indian and choosing not to go into the medical field (i'm stereotyping, but in my family and friends it happens to be true), I am being judged on a different scale. Among my family, there are 2 surgeons, 2 pharmacists, and several engineers. Among my friends, I have several doctors, several dentists, and several lawyers. Mind you, they are all +/- 3 years my age. My income is considered bottom barrel in comparison. I have to work hard to get up the same level, mostly just to live the lifestyle that they have and that, by extension, I expect from myself.
But if we are counting stock options, I hit the 100k mark March 17, 2008.![]()
