What Acts of Honesty Have you Performed?

Inspired by rh71's diamond post I'm curious as to what acts of humanity and kindness the ATOT crew has performed. It doesn't have to be signifcant I'm interested in all examples.

Off the top of my head:

1): Found a purse in the library I could have easily taken out with me but gave it to the front desk.
2): Was given $5.00 extra back when I broke a $20.00 a local grocery store and gave it back to the cashier.
3): Returned a bank card to a lady walking away from the ATM machine that had left in there.
4): Wasn't me but recently my wife found some type of money bag at a local furniture store and gave it to the employees.

Of course there are more but those came to mind the quickest. Also a commercial told of an interesting case several years ago in S. Florida (I think) where somebody found a bag or something with jewelery in it and turned it into the police office. Nobody claimed it so they got to keep the valuable jewels.

1) when i worked at walmart, saw a woman drop a credit card, flagged her down and gave it to her.
2) also found 20 bucks, in an Aisle, and returned it to a CSM, but obviously no one claimed it, so she gave it back to me at the end of the day
3) This one time, my friend and I are getting into his car, and a guy who was limping walks up to the car and says he doesnt have his wallet, and he is stuck in New Brunswick (city I lived in at the time), and he needed 13 bucks to take the train up to were he lived, my friend and i gave him the 13 bucks...

One that always sticks with me....
I was walking out of colege one day in typical college bum clothes (faded shirt and blue jeans, long hair, sunglasses)
This OLD guy slowly walks up to me and asks for a ride. Seems he was meeting a friend at a place down the road for lunch and couldnt get there (Dont know why....) Anyways, I grumbled a bit then said ok. We get in the car and I take him to this place about 3 miles down the road. He offered me a few bucks for gas but I told him to keep it and just say a prayer for my kids and girlfriend.
It was the wierdest non drug induced thing thats happened to me I think. I look back and think how badly he could have gotten taken advantage of if he had asked the wrong people.......

1) sent my dad an Olympus c765 for Father's Day

was going to tell my brother to ship it up to me because the vendor sent it to the wrong address, but then I realized he needed some form of digital recording to replace his charcoal & paper... wait, that's being dishonest ! :Q

My first job was as a cart guy at a grocery store. I was grabbing carts when I found a billfold with $1700 in hundreds in it. I stared at it for like 10 minutes in the parking lot, warring with myself if I should turn it in. It wa the most cash I had ever seen to that point. I was 15 years old. Finaly, I decided to turn it in, because the cart was roughly where an RV was parked earlier. I thought it was someone's vacation money.

So I turned it in, and a few hours later, a lady came in to claim it. I get called to the front desk, for what I am hoping is a reward or at least a thank you. But no. She starts screaming at me saying there was $2k in it. that was the first and last time I turned in anyting I found, and also wanted.

that sucks....

if you read my post earlier, my friend and i gave this stranger 13 bucks to take the train home, we also gave him a phone number he could call us to say thank you, (he kept insisting that he was so grateful and would get us the money somehow, and how he feels terrible asking us for money). we never got the call which means he probably scammed us.... its a shame.

Unfortunately you're probably right. People taking advantage of others kindness infuriates me.

Yep you got scammed. One of the many transportation scamms out there. People also use the:

"my car broke down on the highway and I need to take a taxi for $20 but don't have the money..."
"I got a flat tire and need $X dollars to fix it..."

I have been given these stories and many others so many times I just don't talk to people who approach me anymore.

I am so damn tired of people trying to pull that one on me. It's really a shame that somebody that legitimately needs help will get rejected because everybody assumes he or she is a scammer. I had a guy approach me at Home Depot a few months ago with some b.s. sob story.

I was at the bank about a month ago to get money out of the ATM. This guy in front of me takes his cash and just walks off. LOL. I could have just emptied his accounts (I was wearing a hat too). But, I hit "no, thanks" when it asked if there was anything else I wanted >> out comes the ATM card.

I ran after him for 2 blocks (he's a tall white guy with long legs and I'm a little asian guy).

Wow. That was pretty big hearted of you. Either he was preoccupied with something in his life or an idiot. LOL.
