Just watched Tombstone, a 1993 movie where Val Kilmer played a great role as Doc Holliday. He was never nominated for best actor or supporting actor in the role. I think Mr. Oscar forgot one here. What other actors and their roles do you think Hollywood overlooked..??

Guess Mr. Wells wasn't jewish enough for an Oscar ...

No, Mr. Wells was a little too dis-liked to get nominated. He made what is in mine and most peoples opinion the greatest, most complex film ever made and people resented him for that. That and they were upset over the martian thing :p

Some goodies mentioned thus far, but to deviate from the actor/actress category, when 'Face/Off' came out, I wathced the entire awards to see it be at least nominated for Best Cinemtography. It wasn't.
Big mistake, imo, that film had some of the best visual imagery and shots I've ever seen.
Oliver Wood did it, btw, and Titanic won in 1997, of course.

Daniel Day Lewis should have won for his role in Gangs of New York. He was the movie's saving grace.

That's all I can think about in recent memory.

Movies that should have won:

Saving Private Ryan for Best Picture (couple years ago)
Amelie for Best Foreign Film (last year)
