My friend just started a small cafe business and says he needs some accounting sofware. So what's popular and easy to use?

there is always quickbooks. I use gnucash, but I dont use it for buisness. It has a windows version now though and it is free.

Would you please post a link to the gnucash download for Windows?

I'm unable to find it. Thank you.

You should probably have a professional at least help set it up because as they say, accountants love quicken/quickbooks/etc because people tend to screw it up and need help. 😛

If this is for a business, your friend may want to look into a web based solution like www.netsuite.com. I'm not sure how much his or her budget is but they can be kinda pricey but it does come with a lot of features and the customizability is always there.

I guess I was wrong. I dont use windows, but I had thought I read that the latest version of gnucash had windows support. But I can't find it either.

The best thing would be to have them ask their tax accountant what they support.

Quickbooks and Peachtree are the most common. We have clients who use both, though it seems like the Peachtree people seem to have easier time getting useful reports, but have a harder time finding accountants who are comfortable with it.
