What accomplishments has obama made during his time in office?

This came up in another thread and I think it deserves its own. Lets list the things Obama has accomplished while in office:

Record number of people not working.
Record number of people on welfare.
Record number of American killed by their government without trial.
Record high health insurance costs.
Worst international relations in history.

Feel free to add some positive ones. I'm sure there has to be at least one?

Golf on the taxpayers dime baby!

But rude, you're looking at it from the wrong perspective. He had a shitload of failures but he approached them all with the best of intentions. So, they are all a huge success! BTW, this rationale only works with Democrats.

Has shown how completely unhinged the rightwing is by simply existing.

Oh, Obamacare is a huge success and has helped millions, despite the lies the rightwing have spread about it.

Most of these are bullshit:

Record number of people not working.

Bullshit.

Record number of people on welfare.

Bullshit. (and from Heritage, no less!)

cda1001_chart10.ashx

(Programs evaluated include Medicaid, unemployment, SNAP, welfare, etc, etc)

Record number of American killed by their government without trial.

No idea how you could possibly come to that conclusion. While Obama deciding to kill US citizens without trial is abominable, it is sadly not by any means a record number I would wager.

Record high health insurance costs.

Pretty hilarious selective use of data there. US health costs have continued to increase, but with an aging population that's pretty much guaranteed. The improvement in the overall US health care costs picture is something that everyone should be happy to see.

Worst international relations in history.

What would that even be based on?

Feel free to add some positive ones. I'm sure there has to be at least one?

Among the best recoveries of any developed nation after the worst economic crisis since the great depression.

Extending health insurance to millions of people and ending the practice of pre-existing condition exclusion.

Those are two to start you off. Not that it matters, as I'm sure you just started this thread to rage about Obama. The fact that most of it was bullshit probably doesn't matter to you.

OP, almost nothing that the Republican party could prevent him from accomplishing...

http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/2012/03/The-Conspiracy-to-Commit-Legislative-Constipation
During a lengthy discussion, the senior GOP members worked out a plan to repeatedly block Obama over the coming four years to try to ensure he would not be re-elected.

In his book, Draper opens with the heady atmosphere in Washington on the days running up to the inauguration and the day itself, which attracted 1.8 million to the mall to witness Obama being sworn in as America's first black president.

Those numbers contributed to a growing sense of unease among Republicans as much the defeat in the White House race the previous November. The 15 Republicans were in a sombre mood as they gathered at the Caucus Room in Washington, an upscale restaurant where a New York strip steak costs $51.

Attending the dinner were House members Eric Cantor, Jeb Hensarling, Pete Hoekstra, Dan Lungren, Kevin McCarthy, Paul Ryan and Pete Sessions. From the Senate were Tom Coburn, Bob Corker, Jim DeMint, John Ensign and Jon Kyl. Others present were former House Speaker and future – and failed – presidential candidate Newt Gingrich and the Republican strategist Frank Luntz, who organised the dinner and sent out the invitations.

The dinner table was set in a square at Luntz's request so everyone could see one another and talk freely. The session lasted four hours and by the end the sombre mood had lifted: they had conceived a plan. They would take back the House in November 2010, which they did, and use it as a spear to mortally wound Obama in 2011 and take back the Senate and White House in 2012, Draper writes.

"If you act like you're the minority, you're going to stay in the minority," said Keven McCarthy, quoted by Draper. "We've gotta challenge them on every single bill and challenge them on every single campaign."

The Republicans have done that, bringing Washington to a near standstill several times during Obama's first term over debt and other issues.

Their locked-shut buttocks will unclench of course should Mitt Romney be elected, at which point they'll be passing legislation like street hawkers handing out strip-club flyers. Every bill will be named after Reagan or some other sentimental favorite.

So basically while President Obama was being inaugurated 15 Republicans met in a restaurant and basically agreed as a matter of principal to obstruct the Obama Administration...

Newt Gingrich confirmed the meeting took place in the interview in the second link.

If the situation was reversed and a initially popular Republican President was just inaugurated and a Democratic minority in the made a pact to obstruct everything they could as a matter of course Fox News would be yelling about it at least as loudly as they have been about Benghazi and Birth papiers.

1. Recovered the country from the GW 2008 Wall Street crash.
2. Ordered Bin Laden killed.
3. Gave millions healthcare that never had it.
4. Stopped the building of a leaking, dirty, oil spilling Canadian pipeline.
5. Lowered gas prices. (yes, that goes in his column)
6. Saved the auto industry.
7. Got me $4000 off my new car with the stimulus package.
8. Brought pay inequality into the spotlight.
9. Succeeded wining against Hillary in 2008. (you didn't "WANT" Hillary in 2008, did you?)
10. Saved the country from Sarah Palin becoming VP. (and without a single drone attack)
11. Picked two pretty damn good US Supreme court justices. (both women, mind you)
12. Kept a mormon from running the country. (and knocking on your front door)
13. Kept the country from starving via food stamps after GW's 2008 economic meltdown.
14. Averted a major alien attack from the planet Hairsneaky. (hush. classified information)
15. Gave us a damn nice first lady. (and not another Stepford wife's clone)
16. Gave us a VP that never shot anyone on the face with a gun.
17. Gave us a VP with a heart. (seriously, he has his own beating heart)
18. Continous employment growth despite republican efforts to derail.
19. Ended or greatly reduced the GW Bush wars. (saving thousands of American lives)
20. Never once wore a stupid cowboy hat.
21. Empowered the first lady to encourage fat kids off their lazy ass to exercise.
22. Parted the Red Sea. (yep! It was actually Obama, not Moses)
23. Made John Boehner cry. (now, there you go!)
24. Turned Putin into a whiny little spoiled brat.
25. And 25, will no doubt keep your ass from being nuked by Iran one day.

To be fair, President Bush agreed with the auto company bailout and began the process of that before President Obama was sworn into office....

Of course so much more could have been done if the Democratic Party had a veto-proof majority for the entirety of the first two years... but they didn't...

This is because of the time it took for Senator Frankin to get seated and due to Senator Kennedy's illness they only had a veto-proof majority for at most 7 months of the two years where conservatives like to claim the democratic party controlled Congress.

http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/di...have-60-votes-in-the-senate-and-for-how-long/

111th-Senate.png

Certain people like to propagate the myth that the democratic senate members had "control" for two years but anyone who knows about the veto knows that if the minority party is willing to use it every time then you don't really have "control" unless you can count on 60 votes.

As the above link shows that occurred about 25% of the 2 years in which the democratic party have control of both parts of Congress.

He managed to turn the Republican Party and those that support them into complete and utter morons, see the OP for example.

No, no, no. He only exposed their massive brilliance at rationalization. They have been that way for a long time. Traumatic events in childhood have lasting effects when they are suppressed and go unrecognized and untreated. The art is all in the denial.

That's how our political system works these days. Nothing you have described is out of the norm.

Democrats and Republicans are not required to work together. They have different ideologies and as such, it is naive to think that they would. A lot of people act like this situation is something new, a change. It's not.

If a situation is important enough, or if there is a true need, the two major parties will reach an agreement. Otherwise, it's their job to block that which they don't agree with. It's what we send them to D.C. to do. It's how our government was designed to function.

Deposed rid of Mubarak

Broke US border so Mexican cartels could send people across hiding among "the chiliidren"

Killed Qaddafi and left no security in place.

Ignored Iran's regime after they started beating, killing, torturing its one people. Oh and he helps Iran get nukes.

Made all males in military seem like rapists using an ingenious statistical deceptions.

Knocked out 250+ power plants.

Used stimulus to give away billions to political machine

Helped get weapons to Al Qaeda and ISIS while only getting a few of his own people killed.

Alienated France, Canada, UK , Egypt, Israel,,too many more to list

Made office more accessible by going on every insipid talk show like he was just another putz

Clarified that US was a Muslim nation "since the founding" and that NASAs mission was to highlight Muslims.

Ended Welfare reform

Made healthcare so bad people will try to live healthier

Showed you can be found in contempt of court (over Gulf Drilling) - and had actions declared unconstitutional 9 unanimous times - and still be considered a serious scholar of Constitution.

Got mommies into fighter jets with more pregger leave and allowance for short girls.

Dismissed idea he was a Muslim by gaying up everything in sight.

Proved you dont have to fear Ebola by importing it a few hundred times

Showed being an enemy of US (Muslim Brotherhood) can still get you appointed to US gov posts and rule in Eygpt

That's all just a start

What's even funnier is that he has the gall point out how some are irrational and demented.

That's another accomplishment by Obama though, he brought out the retarded conspiracy theorists like finglobes.

Saved the economy by printing money (only works in liberal la la land).
What wars have ended?
Getting 10 million people health insurance (while screwing multitudes more) does not equal healthcare reform.

I will say this though... at least obama did one thing right. I can jailbreak my phone legally now. Small consolation for a turd of a presidency.

It also works in Econ 101 land.

I mean did you not notice the endless litany of conservatives who kept predicting things about the economy that ended up being hilariously wrong?

If there is one thing this economic crisis showed from an economic theory perspective it is that the dominant conservative understanding of how economics works was really, really wrong. People interested in understanding will accept that, people interested in ideology will find a way to avoid it.

It's sad that Obama saved the U.S. from the stupidity of euro style austerity but the conservatives that desperately wanted it will only hate him for saving them from their own foolishness.

Obama's greatest accomplishment is exactly how much he was able to butthurt all the conservatives by simply being president.
