Hello boys! I was wondering if you can tell me how reliable are the PSUs made by Sintek... All I know about Sintek is that they're a owner of the Saikano brand (very good cases indeed!)...

My seller is an official Sintek distributor, so he says they have a good quality... Specificly, they offerred to me the http://www.sintekcorp.com/index-2-psu-eco500.htm to run a c2d e4500 overclocked, 2gb 800mhz and a 8800gt...

Have you ever had a PSU from sintek? are those PSU reliable or just a generic PSU like melody?...

Thanks in advance :D

Huh, those PSU's look an awful lot like Rosewill and some Aerocool PSU's (from the exterior at least). My guess would be they are a mixed bag, but I'm not sure sames I never heard of the company before.

Quiksilver, the pictures on their website really look like a (very very) generic PSU for me too...

JEDIYoda, I read the review... I don't like it at all !

Needless to say, the actual crossload test results were disappointing. With 3A on the 3.3V and 4A on the 5V, the 12V rail dropped all of the way down to 11.36V. I had to crank the 3.3V back up to 5A and take the 5V up to 7A just to get the 12V rail back to spec at 11.40V.

I know someone that knows someone (a friend of a friend?) that works at Wintech, so I asked them what Wintech platform this PSU is based on. They told me that they only made about 500 units for SinTek in early 2005 (the date code on my unit was May of 2006) and that they don't know why they're using the Wintech UL number or Wintech part number on the box. Huh!?

The power supply simply can't do an acceptable 500W continuously.

seems to be pretty clear for me, I shouldn't buy that PSU for my new PC...

thanks dudes, I really appreciate your comments, Sintek does not appears even on google!... If anybody can add some information about the matter, please do it :)

Let me tell you more about SinTek.....

When I bought my first PC Power & Cooling!!

I had narrowed what I wanted down to 2 PSU`s.

Mind you that was when I forst joined these forums and there actually was not that many top quality PSU`s on the market!!

Well something bothered my about the Sinterk brand. So I started looking around and digging into other forums besides this one.

I learned several things that might or might not have been true-- The company that was selling Sintek actually went out of buisness under another name selling PSU`s.......
They went5 out of buisness due to quality issues......

Then I did some PSU comparisons and found severl PSU`s being sold under different names that were exactly the same as the Sintek brand physiclly from the outside.....the knobs and all!!

So personally I went with PC Power and Cooling.....haven`t looked back since....

There are many good PSU`s on the market nowadays!!

Peace!!

And running an 8800GT in a shop isn't much of a feat.

With a PSU from an unknown OEM that's likely rating their units at 25°C... why take the chance?

dont wanna take such a risk!

i'd better go for a Spire Zeno 600W ATX 12V 2.0/2.01V =)

here, in argentina, we don't have the same variety you have there... moreover, we're on holidays, it's too difficult to get a good brand PC product...

thanks you all dudes!

Spire isn't any better... same can of worms just different label.
How about listing the choices you do have?

oh shit :(

the problem is there's no list! I talked to a lot of sellers, they all told me on hollidays there's no stock of vgas and PSU, the only one who has PSU wants to sell me either the sintek or the spire... It's very disappointing , but it seems i should wait until march when other sellers open again...

If I could, I'd do it, but I don't know anybody from either USA or Europe...

I think the best is to wait until march, maybe later febrary, but i've promissed my brother to give him away my PC when I buy the new one, and now he's really really anxious! how will I tell him he won't get the PC until march!

on January we're on the big hollidays, I may find some stock on february ...

thanks and sorry if I've made some (probably lot of :p) mistakes in english!

My Sin-tek (received for review) just burnt out on me :-( It was the SLI 500 model...I've had it for a couple of years with no problems...I just go mad at something and slammed my fist on my desk and bam! There went my powersupply...

Luckily I know the owner...so replacement shouldn't be an issue...only issue is that now my computer is down and all I have to fall back on is a shitty laptop...900mhz Celeron FTW!

LOL... well there you go... PSU PCB's are on the top of the unit with the components hanging down. You probably knocked something loose from the PCB. :D
