What About Iran?

Well it seems that they have had quite enough of radical Islam and nutty rullers in general.

Here is a web log (I REFUSE to say Blog) of an Iranian Girl that is part of the resistance.

Iranian Girl

Don't ask for pics. If her government found out who she was, her life would get seriously difficult. Can you say prison and torture of her and her family?

And you said the ATOT Mods were tough. :Q

IRAN before and after the Islamic Revolution.

What do you believe? Is there anything in this world that you can say is not US propaganda?

when something is posted on the internet without any follow up ability, then I'm suspicous.

ambiguity bothers a lot of people. It's always nice to be sure. Barring that, it's nice to think you're sure. Seaking truth sort of means questioning, no?

Yep, I'm sure she is a CIA spy, along with all of the other student protestors.

better to have a dead Iranian girl and satisfy your suspicians, no?

I would rather make a move against Iran than Iraq. At least they have people there, children and young adults, who like us.

Moving against Iran would just alienate a lot of people. At the moment they have a president who is moderate, but who has to struggle with the real holders of the power there, namely the clerical people. This is a fight of the people. A lot has changed already, the clerical classes already gave in on a lot of things (to prevent further loss of power mostly), but they still can basically vote away the democratically chosen president. Progress is slow, but unless requested for outside interference would be an extremely bad idea.
They have gotten a lot more freedom than they used to have.

In Iraq there is no freedom at all, religion is not the main power there. If Saddam decides to do something he can, no matter how terrible it is. In Iran there are several groups with different parts of the power, and they have to find a balance. A lot changed already.

It's funny how foreign students protesting their government are heros, but over here they're Hippy scum.

There the government is on their side, but the real power lies not with the government but with the clerical class. The only reason change has taken place is because even they see that it is better to give in to some things if you aren't planning on a dictatorship.

Iran is going to be in for a world of change in the next 20 years. The average age of the population is 15, couple this with an entire generation of youth that don't like the Islamic totalitarian society they live in and they are itching for a french revolution. I would say that about the time that average age hits mid 20's their are going to be some big changes in Iran and I think a good portion of them will be former leaders hanging from nooses.

There were some very interesting interviews with local people from Tehran on NPR yesterday.

Yup, I went to school last semester with a girl that was from Tehran. Basically, everybody her age hates the Islamic rule. She is even Muslim.

You lay down with dogs, you wake up with fleas.

Sure, stuff coming from Islamic sources. Balance your propaganda diet.
