I'm in the main technology lab today at my HS and I notice this gray shadow beneath the mouse in W2k Pro (these are nice machines...for the most part...you'll see why it isn't altogether in a second). This gray shadow is wiggin me out...friggin' ghosting! :| I wanted to shoot the monitor...cept its a 21" Dell Trinitron, so that would be about $700 down the tubes for my school. ;) Then I think, "Well, its not a matrox card...probably not 3dfx...they probably didn't customize this too much beyond the basic model from dell...but it has AutoCAD...how well does it work?" Well, the security isn't all up yet at my school's network so I right click and get into properties and i see that the video card is a friggin TNT2 M64! To top it off, its running in 1024x768x16!!! HOLY CRAP! I'm thinkin', "Okay, 21" Trinitron monitor with an M64?! At 1024x768x16?! Wait...and its ghosting like hell at this pansy ass resolution on this amazing monitor?!"

Hmmmm...that is soooooo sad. :(

Why can't the schools upgrade a friggin graphics card?! They get a 21" monitor but can't spare another $100 to get a video card that can actually use it?! TF?!

ARG!!!

LOL, i feel bad for anyone trying to use autoCAD on that thing though...lol!

The computers in the tech lab are nice too...cept the video cards!

What kind of card would you have put in there if you had the choice? TNT2's aren't exaclty at the bottom of the pack when it comes to 2d quality - but I'm not into professional graphics, so is there a better card for this application?

Of the cards on the affordable front your best bet for 2D quality
would be Matrox, followed by ATI.
