one of my student teachers in Junior high band had the last name Raper.

You should've heard the snickers in class when "Mr. Raper" was introduced.

Some of my clients names have been pretty bad, I had a Tush Luva, Harry Knuckles and a William William (people who name their kid the same as the last name should be shot)

My mum's maiden name is Raper, some of my friends found it very amusing when they found that out.

That's funny but my 9 year old neices best friend is an immigrant from HK and she still has no english name......... her name is Pu Kai....... that's not funny............. her 12 year old sisters name is Pu Sai (ouch).............. when she hit's middle school she's going to get a hurting for that.

Yeah, i knew a guy pretty well who was a teacher's assistant named Mr. Raper. Kinda made me mad how lots of asses made fun of him :| He was a really nice person, too.

Smith came about because immigration officers were lazy and did not understand what the foreigners said their names were, so they just wrote down "Smith", "White", etc.

My GF's neighours are the Karhu family. In english, "Karhu" means "Bear". One of their sons is names "Otso". Otso is an ancient finnish word meaning... Karhu/Bear. Trust me, it sounds funnier in finnish :)

Isn't there Smokie the Bear in USA? It would be same if parents family-name was "Bear" and they named their son "Smokie" :).

EDIT: Oh, there are ALOT of foreign names that sound extremely funny in finnish :)! names like Steve Paska (Steve Sh!t in finnish), Elizabeth Perse (Elizabeth Ass), Richard Tollo (Richard Moron), Steve Kives (Steve Testicle), Roger Nussi (Roger F*ck), Chris Lutka (Chris B!tch)...

Hope I don't get banned for posting those...

I went to high school with Phuc Ngo. Everyone snickered a bit, but felt sorry for her..
