What a strange way to buy food!!

Anyone here ever heard of Schwan's??? I stumbled on their website recently (checking up on new customers here at work) and saw that they sell frozen groceries online by the meal--each meal serving 4-8 folks!

It sounds expensive (the featured breakfast on their homepage is $22, serves 6) and ridiculous for home use...but I could see small caterers/private parties going this route to provide food for small groups. I guess it cuts prep time/cooking time etc.

My Mom used to buy from them for our family. Some items were high priced, but some of their food was not available anywhere else.
 
Go to Boston Market. Their 6 serving meal costs over $30.

Schwanns has been around for ages. They are one of the few door to door food sales/delivery companies. I remember when I was a kid in the late 70s and the schwann man would come over to my grandma's house with all kinds of candy and chips and crap for sale. It was great.

Compared to restaurants, yes...but buying from a grocery store/cooking is definately cheaper.

 
I've had Schwans frozen pockets (with steak or pizza, etc) and they were very tasty. I think $3.67 is kind of expensive considering it's breakfast.
 
Schwans is great if you have at LEAST 4 people in your family, you can save a lot of time and money. If it is fewer however, it isn't worth it.
 
Those guys in the truck drive too darn slow... schwans /sp? is all over NW PA, they are always making deliveries here or there in their oversized freezer trucks 🙂
 
Hahaha! Our dog bit the Schwann man once... We used to buy tons of ice cream stuff from them... He doesn't come around anymore for some reason. 😀
