Well I installed a thermal probe on my ASUS CUSL2, but it towards the bottom of the socket and thought all was well. I put my Swiftech MC370-3 Peltier on and the readings were like the cpu temp probe on the MB. It was what I expected at first that the temp at idle would be close (a little lower actually) than what the MB CPU probe reported and less that what the MB CPU probe reported at full load. I was getting readings in the bios and win of between -11C upto about 19C full load. The MB CPU probe would report -9C up to 24C on full load.
Today I wake up to see that I could not go past post. I read that there is an error in Hardware monitoring and I go to look in the bios and the probe is now at 81C!! Well first I got worried but the MB CPU probe is still at 23C in the bios and 24C full load in Win.
If it wasnt such a chore to take the whole thing apart I would move the probe, but I sealed the gasket all around with GE Silione II and it would be a royal pain in the arse to take it off. Those of you with peltiers and who are anal about condensation know what I mean.
What do you think happened? I think the probe came off its tape and moved around a little somehow touch the hot heatsink. Or the probe could just be malfunctioning. I know that if my CPU was at 81C I sure as hell would not have my 700 at 1015 and stable
