Sheeeeeet. I subscribe to this email list called "DirectDeals.com". Everyday I get an email showcasing all kinds of "great deals." Every once in a great while, they have a winner. Most often it's a total ripoff. Like $64 for a copy of Win98. <---Ahahahahahah, that's a good one.

Anyway, They want $500 for this refurbished POS. Can U believe it?

lmao, doesn't even come with an OS...good stuff

it has a basic input output system :)

I've got slower sitting next to me. I hope a RAM upgrade will do the trick. I reformatted and did a clean install of Win 98 SE, upgraded everything and its super slow. Its a 5 year old IBM 770 and still running...

I have a co-worker who is considering selling her IBM ThinkPad i1370 (Celeron 550/196/12/W@K/Office2K/CD). Although it's a low end i series laptop which is manufactured by Acer I believe, it's pretty nice.

I"m not beating on the IBM laptops, if anything I'm praising it. My dad got it from work say 2 years back. Now he wants to use it so I upgraded most of the important things, OS, both Batteries and the mouse head and it works perfectly. Who knows how many people had it before him, so its 'sturdiness' is pretty high on my list. Its only got 32MB of RAM, so multitasking isn't really an option...

In reality I don't think that price is as horrible as some would think. People are willing to pay a lot for even the most out of date laptops. It wasn't that long ago that I paid $350 for a P133 laptop.

It's really too bad, but I haven't found one used laptop that was worth buying.

Hee hee - in all fairness I did some work just last night on my NEC 486/66 laptop, which is still adequate for word processing (no, I am not a total technophobe - I am writing this on my 2.133 GHz P4 desktop). I would be psyched to have a P2-366 lappy.
