If it was not for cheap, crappy, Chinese labour, that plastic company probably would not have laid him off in the first place. I say tax everything that comes from china to encourage having to manufacture locally.

Protectionism has its own problems, but that's probably a thread that'd do better in P&N.

Free trade has benefits, tariffs have benefits - but "moderation in all things" applies to both.

Everybody complains about WalMart, and death inducing Chinese products, but nobody's willing to put their money where there mouth is, and buy American. Sometimes the cheapest product isn't the best in the long run.
