I'm guessing this is the mcse book you are talking about.

Edit: Jzero is right. There no "quick and simple" way. If you don't want a book, might I suggest you RTFH?

I got a friend who is getting his MCSE in a month to help me set it up. Little did I know he knows nothing of exchange or Win2k Server. What the heck do you have to know to be MCSE anyways.
I just want to get it working and never touch exchange again.:disgust:

Thanks Knightbreed!

mcveigh: That's because he must be another (there are soooooooo many) Paper MCSE. I work with two Paper MCSE's at work.........actually, I do their work because they don't know how. It really sucks how the person who DOES know this stuff and is going for their MCSE gets their salary shafted because of the Paper MCSE's.

Sorry, just a Rant.

Dude, let me fill you in on what you need to be proficient at before you can even START to learn exchange.
You will need to understand

Active Directory
DNS
IIS (necessary for NNTP)

That right there is a whole lot of learning. They are Necessary for Exchange 2000 to work at all.

Well my friend explained active diretory to me a little. and the server is up and running. Unfortunately I can log onto the domain. (I have everyone in the workgroup) if they logonto the domain outlook refuses to start, crashes everytime.
I don't kow if it's an outlook thing or a server side thing or an XP thing.

But it's working. My first choice was Linux/samba but the boss wants exchange
