Yeah, I had a pretty crappy day yesterday:
6:15 AM: Wake up, head to JFK
7 AM: Get to JFK, forced to check my carry-on bag because my backpack isn't considered a "personal item," and I have it + a carry-on bag
9:15 AM: Watch flight 587 go down out of our plane's windows (we were ready to take off, flight crew was seated and everything, then we got called back to the gate) Saw it happen, then watched the news coverage on the plane's TVs until we got back to the gate
9:30 AM - 10 PM: Wait at JFK for my flight to be rescheduled (yes, almost 13 HOURS)
10:05 PM: Get on plane
10:30 PM: Taxi to runway, then return to gate because of computer malfunction (scared the sh!t out of me)
11:00 PM: Wait in plane while problem is repaired
11:05 PM: While waiting, captain and copilot must be replaced because the original captain and first officer have worked over 16 hours (union rules)
11:20 PM: Problem fixed, captain arrives
11:25 PM: New captain informs us that we are short one first officer and have to wait for one to get in from Buffalo
11:45 PM: New first officer arrives, we FINALLY take off
1:45 AM (feels like 2:45 to me because I came from Eastern Time Zone): Arrive in New Orleans
1:45 - 2:30 AM: Collect my baggage (impressed that it made it, and that it was in one piece), wander around airport parking lot looking for shuttle to my off-site parking
3:00 AM: Arrive at my car. Car is covered in bird sh!t. I mean COVERED. After this day, I don't care. I pay the attendant for my four days, and leave. Not in the mood to argue.
3:20 AM: Go to gas station car wash. Find I am out of cash for carwash. (I really wanted to get it washed immediately before the sh!t affected my paint)
3:30 AM: Get cash from gas station ATM after begging attendant to let me in (they were locked up for the night). Go through carwash, gets about half the sh!t off. I scrub the rest off with a squeegee and paper towels, rinse the car off with the water hose.
4:00 AM: Arrive at home and pass the fsck out
2 PM today: Wake up and realize I slept through work, call my boss, and happily she understands my situation (actually, she was really worried about me since she knew I was in New York and hadn't called in)
Yesterday sucked, but not once was I mad at anyone at the airline, airport, etc. I was just thankful that I made it home safely.
