Looking at the dates on the items, it looks like this all took place late 2003. I found the link on an Ebay PS'ers message board. Actually it is a thread asking PS'ers ages. OP was 18!! Anyway, it was an old post and this guy posted in early '03 he was just about to turn 31. Probably took the 22k and went to mexico.

Some guy tried to scam me out of a laptop on ebay a while back. I called teh local authorities and they went to his house and made him refund me my money or arrest him.

Good question! Is this a civil or criminal matter? Both?

I don't remember what they considered it, but we had a detective that was assigned to our case. We gave the guy a chance, cuz there was a group of us who got scammed by him. He came up with a story about his supplier was holding up his product or whatever. I told the detective that I just wanted my money back, whats funny was the detective made teh guy call everyone and apologize.

i had that sort of thing happen to me... seller had 1200 positive feedback, then from there on everything went sour. got my money back at least!
