Just got the nerve up to do a little cutting on the side panel of my brand new Antec SX1040. Cut a hole for a 92mm Sunon fan and mounted it. Man was I Surprised at the difference. I have an AXIA tbird currently running at 1450 1.75 volts with a rc5 load temp of 46c case temp of 22c with a Swiftech mc-370 with a delta 38 fan on it. Before I installed the side panel fan my rc5 load temp stayed around 51c-54c that was with the 2 exhaust fans that come with the case ans 2 intake fans that i installed. I figure that this simple mod netted me a 5c drop on average on my cpu temp. Looks like it is time to go back to 1500 Whoo Hoo!

NesuD-
how about when you have to remove the side panel to get to your motherboard? Do you remove the side panel fan or do you have a really, really long power cable with a lot of slack? would be interested in your solution, as this has made me hesitate to add a side fan.
thanks

I had the same concern but with this case the side panel swings out so i can easily open it far enough to unplug the fan before I remove the side panel. It really isn't as big a deal as i had expected it to be.

you should see what 2 120mm fans mounted at the side of the case does... =)
