I woke up this morning to my doorbell ringing like crazy, go to see who it is and it's my neighbor. They were telling me that I needed to move my wifes car because it's going to be covered in water. I go out to see what they're talking about and I see my wifes car in 2 feet of water (several other cars were completely submerged). Luckly it starts and I'm able to move it to a parking spot up the hill.
I go back to the apartment building to see that the entire first floor was flooded in about 6in of water. I help many of my neighbors in the same building as me move their belongings to an empty apartment on the 2nd floor.
We then go look to see the damages throughout the neighborhood. We have a creak that is normally 3-4inches deep maybe 6in at it's deepest, and it has a bridge about 6ft above the bottom of this creak. We'll it looks like raging rapids, and the bridge was washed away.
We decide to drive around to see what else is going on, on the way to my work we see several office building half submerged in water, several car roofs (that's all you could see), and kids playing in the water in boats and that's just within a mile from where I live.
We hear from people at my work that another apartment complex across the street was evacuated. So we goto check it out, the water level was halfway up the 2nd story on the 3 story buildings.
We get to work just fine (takes my wife about an hour on a 15 minute drive) We'll throughout the workday several bridges on our route to get home were flooded over and they close down those streets. I had to find a way home because every road I knew to get home was closed. The only way home was a back route through other neighborhoods that I took once 2 years ago so I barely remembered about it.
My wife is still not home I think it may take 2 hours for her to get home.
Ahhh what a day. I wish I had my video cam or digital cam charged up. But if you want to see pics you can see pics here. Linky You click on "Photos of the flooding" on the online only section. Or you can try the direct Link
