Well, Intel got a lot of heat in spring of 2000 when they officially launched the PIII 1 GHZ CPU with a press realease(paper-launch). The CPU's were very hard to come by unless you were a big box maker(Dell, Compaq, etc). The CPU's weren't widely available until many months later so people coined the phrase "paper launch".
Now it would appear that they have lauched the desktop Tualatin without a press release(paper-less launch). If you weren't aware, there are 6 or 7 places selling the PIII 1.2 GHZ Tualatins on pricewatch.com and some places have even had them for sale for almost two weeks now. They actually did have a press release today announcing mobile Tualatins but nothing on the desktop version. It would appear that one of two things are happening here. Either Intel does not want to make people aware of the desktop Tualatins(so you will buy a P4) or all of the dealers on pricewatch are jumping the gun and selling these chips before they're really allowed to.
