What a bad way to come home from a vacation...

A kennel in town accidentally let a dog run loose tonight. Apparently one of the owners of the kennel forgot to latch the fence. The dog then proceeded to run right into the highway and get struck by a car, which caused it to eventually die. The owners are still on vacation and, unless they received the voicemail the kennel left, have absolutely no idea that their dog is now dead.

Sad. :(

That's the risk you take for letting someone else take care of you kids/pets while you go have fun by yourselves.

agree... will make it harder when they get home but they might as well have fun while they are away instead of worrying about it for the rest of their time off

I'd sue just to make a point. How lax, that's the equivalent (to me at least) of killing your baby in daycare. Pets are family, some of the above comments seem as if they aren't from loving pet owners. =(

You'll have to spin it:

"Good news! You don't have to pay for using the kennel!"

I would sue the car manufacture because they made a vehicle that didn't have safety equipment that would stop the car in an instant sending the driver and the rest of his family through the windshield.

After seeing this, I am going to sue the dog owners for being too fucking selfish to take care of their own animal. Why own them if you can't care for them.

Using this logic, employers should fire their employees when they go on vacation. Brilliant!

Just because you love your animals doesn't mean you have to stay home 365 days a year.

Kennels are like daycare. Do you not care for your kids if you put them in daycare?

It's supposed to be a safe, loving environment while you are away.

Pets are all fine and dandy. I hate dogs, but whatever. They are still someones pet.

However, you cannot equate a dog or any other pet to the life of a human. Not even close.

It should be noted that I do not work for the kennel, and was not the one who contacted the dog's owners, though I tried. Coworker just found it on the side of the road.

I disagree. I don't value an average humans life more than my own pet.

I do value a family members life more though, I will say.

If you don't value an average humans life more than your pet, then I value you life at about that of an ant now.

Decision:

Someone shoots your dog in the head, or some random average guy stranger in the head?

You'd scream "SAVE MY DOG!"?

Oh what a wonderful human being you are.

Your personal attacks at the value of my life are pretty infantile, so I should value some person above a pet that I've known for, perhaps a decade, loved, taken care of, fed and live with, who shows me affection every day and asks for nothing in return?

I'm sorry you've never made any emotional attachment with a non-human strong enough to understand.

I care for my pets. They are members of my family, and I'd protect them at all costs.
