I want to buy a cheap netbook, either locally or not. As they all appear to have wireless, a couple of USB 2.0 ports, etc. it seems the main thing I need to worry about is audio. I was at Staples recently and their acer or asus for $300 seemed nice but that things onboard speakers were crazy quiet. I'd like something at least with a few more watts to watch youtube clips above the din of the kitchen. I don't play on running DJ on this thing, but I need better volume than that one at Staples had.

Looking to spend if possible $250-350. This is going to be a 99% email machine.

If you want the best audio out of a netbook, you best option is to buy a X-Fi usb or PCMIA card or something along those lines + a nice pair of headphones.

Heres a combination of the two. It has a soundcard built into the headphones

Heres the X-Fi USB card that comes with a headphones but I'm not sure about the quality of those.

Thanks!

FYI I bought a Samsung N130 yesterday. Suffice to say its single speaker is pretty damn egregious ;)

My Eee900 sounds decent all things considered. You have to use it on a solid surface to get good volume. If you hold it in the air, it's very quiet.
