What 21 inch monitor would you get?

I'm helping a friend put together a system, and he demands a 21 inch monitor.
Frankly, I don't know monitors that well, let alone high end. Does trinitron matter at that point? or are they all close enough to flat? Will anyone notice the diff between .22 pitch and .24 pitch. My instinct is to just get a sony, but i'd like more info.
What about the 21's viewsonic offers, they're cheaper than the sony's.

[edit] I was going through mwave's stock and the CTX 21 Trinitron looks pretty good. Anyone know anything about it?[/edit]

If you have money to spend, I would say the Sony GPD-F400, or otherwise, the Sony CPD-G400

I wouldn't. I would get a nice High Quality 19" and spend the differance on a GeForce2 64 Ultra.

Not only is the F400 not a 21" monitor, but it is currently very hard to find. It's my guess that it's not being manufactured anymore.

I'd say go for the F500R, but you might opt for the Mitsubishi 22" (actually 21") 2040U Diamondtron.

They're both beasts.. ;)

My wife uses the Sony F500R for graphic editing - expensive, but the best monitor I've ever seen.

I LOVE my ViewSonic PF815. Got a perfectly flat CRT screen, and has a trinitron tube to boot. Got if for $815.00 at Oniva while back.

The KDS Avitron 21" Model is nice, and only around 600$ from Onvia

Either the Viewsonic PF815 or the Mitsubishi Diamondtron 2040U. I considered a 21" monitor but ended up with a Viewsonic PF790 19" and am quite happy with it.

We just got 8 new Dell's in our training lab at work and they all came with this 21" trinitron monitor that is just incredible. When you first look at it you'd swear that it's concave...that you could reach through the screen and swipe your hand across the win2K login page. Then you notice how no matter what angle you view it from the picture doesn't change. And finally...for those of you who unfortunately have to use your computer to read much text, this thing is incredible. We set the display setting to 1600X1400 and scrutinized a page of text at 6 point font...totally legible. All I can say is WOW!!!!! I can't remember the model number on it but I'm sure it's at least $1400 U.S. The only problem is the thin trademark trinitron lines running horizontally at two spots across the screen...a minor annoyance which you won't even notice for the first few days because you'll be simply stunned by this monitor.
I'm not a Dell salesman or anything but I've worked with several 21" monitors(Viewsonic, Intergraph, SGI, Princeton, NEC) and none have looked as good as this...especially for vector graphics. I'm not sure who makes the FD Trinitron for Dell(probably Sony) but it obviously made a huge impression on me and my co-workers

Sony GDM-F500R hands down, but it will cost you an arm and a leg.

The Mitsubishi 22"s look very nice as well.

0.22 and 0.24 grille pitch can be a big difference for AG monitors.

CTX is good, shouldn't go wrong with it if the price is decent.

how about the Hansol 21" offering? I have a 710P 17" from them and it's the best and they are really cheap aswell. I would suggest investigating them.

I am using a Hitachi Super Scan 813 I got from Outpost that is beautiful. UT almost gave me motion sickness the first time I ran it on this large of a monitor :)
