What 19" monitor should I get?

I'm looking for a new monitor. I have found a couple that I like on paper. I'm looking in two price ranges, $300 and under; and $300 - $400. I'm looking for these price ranges with shipping included.

Here are the monitors that I've found in each price range:

300 and under
Viewsonic G90f, Viewsonic E90f, and the Samsung 955DF

$300 - $400
Viewsonic PF790, Sony CPD-G410R, Sony CPD-G420S

I was also looking at the Viewsonic P95f which is over my price range, but if it is a lot better than these other monitors, I would spend the extra money on it.

I'm open to any other suggestions. I would also like to know about the Sonys. I've heard that they have two lines running across the screen or something and was wondering if this is true on the monitors that I listed. If it is true, is it really annoying?

Edit: I just saw another monitor that looked nice. It is the NEC FE950+.

I'm getting a Samsung 900NF in a few days. It'll cost me $569 Canadian locally, which is uhh.. $200.. I mean .. about $350~$400 US.

Sony makes the best monitors I have ever seen. Samsung makes good ones for a lower price than Sony. Viewsonic is good as well, but I like the other companies better.

I'd say it's difficult to go wrong with a Iiyama (not the cheapest models).

Both Sony trinitron and Iiyama monitors (as well as Mitsubishi I believe) have two high-tension wires that run across the screen. It's not annoying in normal use, although it can be if you're a design professional (it means you have to scroll up and down whatever you're working on, just to confirm that the line is not in the drawing).

Hands down Samsung. I would also consider Viewsonic, but definitely Samsung over Viewsonic.

I have a really bad experience with Sony 19" Trinitrons, and I'm never going back to Sony. My school uses Sony too. The library is basically covered with Sony monitors and urrgh. I can't stand them anymore.

Go with Samsung. You won't regret it.

I would not consider the ViewSonic PF790, it's subpar compared to the other monitors in the same price range. For $300-400, I would also look into Cornerstone and Samsung, they make very nice 19" monitors usnig the DiamondTron tube.

I just looked at the Iiyama Vision Master Pro 454, and I really like it, but it seems like it is a little out of my price range. The cheapest I can find it for is $470 shipped. Does anyone know of any place where I can get it cheaper? If I can't get that one in my price range, then I think I'm down to the Sony CPD-G420S or the Samsung 900NF. I don't like the size of the Samsung or the boxy shell, but it seems like everyone really likes it.

Search on Pricewatch, if they all say $470, then it's $470, the model itself is priced by the manufacturer so it's not the stores that make the difference. Samsung's shell boxy? Last time I saw one they're not shelled like a box, you probably need to take a closer look at it. You need to decide quickly whether you like Trinitron more or DiamondTron more, once you figure that out the choice is easy.

My whole lab including me use the viewsonic pf790 which is an awesome monitor. It's around $350 but has a great picture and is flat. If you're gonna get a viewsonic, make sure to get the pf790.

when I had to choose between the following: Samsung 900NF, Sony G420S, Cornerstone P1460

I chose the Cornerstone to be different :) The monitor is extremely crisp and doesn't have the grille lines like the others. I guess u gotta compare the monitors though.. it's kinda hard to compare to the cornerstone though since it's just factory direct and not at retail stores.

Heard a lot of good things about Samsung NF and on a lower budget DF. But I think I am going to go with the Hiatachi CM721. I has also gotten some great reviews and the price is right. Anyone using this monitor now? Thanks

one more vote for 900NF.
it supports up to 1600 x 1200 @ 87Hz Maximum Resolution, and natural plat with a reasonable price.
if you want lower price product, 955DF is the way to go.
