Hi guys, I've just bought a Thermalright XP-120, and I was wondering, which fan should I get to use with it.

Here are some fan I'm looking at:

Panasonic Panaflo 120mm L1A
Max air: 68.9 CFM
Dimension: 120*120*38mm
Input power: 2.16 watts
Max noise: 30.0 dB-A
Max air pressure: 3.3 mmH2O
Operating voltage: 12V
2 wire connector

Antec Pro120mm DBB

First of all, if every 120mm fan works ? Are the one above compatible ? Which one of the above ones would you recommend ? Do you have any other QUIET(~30 dB-A) fan to recommend ?

I have a nexus 120 for intake and it only runs at 1000rpm at max. you put your ear beside it and all you hear is the wind it is moving (meaning dead silent). Of course it does move less air but didn't you get the xp-120 for better cooling and noise?

Yeah, I did get it for better cooling and noise, but I intend to overclock my 3700+ San Diego at the max it can on air cooling. 30 dB-A isn't loud for me, I have presently a Vantec Aeroflow on my Barton and my Prescott, and each of them are 35 dB-A.

Get the panaflo, if not, get a yate loon or nexus. Yate Loons are my favorite, because they are very good and reliable, and won't hurt ur bank account.(Nexus sells some fans for over $25)

oh okay because I have been swaping and adjusting my fans and my comp is between 20-30db at idle since it is 1.5 meters from my bed 😛

Oh and that reminds me, just get a high flow one and adjust the rpm to the level you like. In your case, dont get the nexus but get something with a high limit so you can juice it up when u need it and slow it down when u dont, unlike the nexus where it always stays low.

any links for the yate loons ?

http://www.neocomputers.com---> only an 80 mm srry still looking...man I cant find one! SPCR says they are hard to get, but several months ago the 120's could be had at several USA online retailers. With what your "next pc" looks like I feel you can afford to go Nexus lol. Nice system 🙂 Crap bad link srry its on google though 🙂

humhum I may go for the Antec Pro for the airflow(79cfm). 30 dB-A isn't bad for me.

Messiah: I saw that you use a DFI LAnparty and have overclocked you Athlon 64.... Are you using the stock HS/F ?

No, I am using a Thermalright XP-120 w/Yate Looon 120mm fan. I finnaly got my copper waterblock for my cpu and my chipset, so I'll be swapping out the thermalright, and it'll go in my old rig. XP-120 is great for overclocking. Our cpus are very similar, so you should be looking at around 2.7-2.9ghz on air. I want to break 3ghz, so I'm switching to a cooled water system. I'd like to get a Prometeia Mach 2, but it is $948. Good Luck on the new rig!

Messiah: Did you had any trouble installing the RAMs when the XP-120 was already in place ? Because the first DIMM slot seem pretty tight, with RAM that havn't passive cooling on it.

Also, I'm surprise that you couldn't get 3.0GHz on air with a 4000+ San Diego... on xtremesystems.org , the 3700+ on air was @ 2.9, and the 4000+ on air around 3.0 ~ 3.1. I'm talking about stable settings, running prime95 for more than 15 hours.
