I really hate the whole app thing on the PC.

A PC using the smartphone/tablet UI is absolutely horrible.

Imagine you're a project manager. You just cooked up a new version of some software. Its missing half the features of the old version (because it took a team 10 years to do that and you had to ship it half finished because it was already late) its full of bugs and it has a horrible flat UI that everyone in marketing has been telling each other they need. You need this to succeed so that you can put it on your resume and get a promotion.

Are you going to let users keep using the old version that works? Of course not! The project would be a failure. So you will force it on them, then you can say they must have loved it because look how many of them are using it!
