NBA Live hasnt been as good as the 2K series for years now.... plus 2k5 is $20 this year.

meh... Ill give you MAdden vs 2k5 but LIVE is still much better than the ESPN version. LIVE 03 pretty much sucked for online play but 04 was a HUGE step forward.

I get the games free from EA so $$ is irrelevent. But they did lower the price tag $10 too this year and I agree that the $20 pricetag on the ESPN series is the right move for ESPN. This is what games should cost and I know MANY people that have jumped EA's (sinking) ship because of it.

Well, maybe it's just a gameplay preference How about, I've liked the 2k series more than the Live series?

Although, I played (i think it was) Live '96 or '97 non-stop my Freshman year of college. It was so much fun against the other guys on my floor.

WOW. Sega has gotten to EA a little bit, and this surprised me to the fullest. Releasing a week early AND discounting the price? Holy crap!! This is really amazing. We're seeing a new level of competition between two companies now.

I concur, it's definately a "Oh Crap" move by EA.

Yeah, that's not a good sign, sounds like ESPN is a bit too arcadey this year.

Word on the street is that NBA 2K is not all that great this year. Live is looking good and has a slam dunk contest.

Seriously, I think Live is the one to get. 2K sounds below par this year from reading reviews.

Picking up Live today for the Xbox. Funny how things come around: my first Live was the original on the Sega Genesis. Everything since then has been on the PC until now! I don't trust EA to give a good online experience on the PC (yes 2004 was better but still sucked the big one), so Xbox it is this year now that they finally have "Live on Live", so to speak.

even with the luke warm reviews for 2k5, the online league feature and $20 price tag are too much to pass up (I love it with NHL and NFL). I'll be picking that up this weekend.

I saw it on a Frys ad today for 17.95....its very tempting...hmmm
