Seriously? After we bashed Putin for interfering in another country's internal affairs we are back doing the same?

And lets not forget how wonderful our other adventures in toppling regimes has been. Iraq is doing splendid. AQ basically controls at least one major town now. Afghanistan is considered one of the most corrupt nations in the world and waiting for the Taliban to retake power. Libya has got a diplomat killed and our embassy on high alert to evacuate.

So what could go wrong if Syria falls?

We have a terrorist in the White House.

We are not friends of Syria or any other Islamic terrorist group that might replace them. Rockets for terrorists from Iran were often smuggled through Syria to Hezbollah and used to bomb Israel.

It probably has to do with locating the WMD that were in Iraq and moved to Syria before the invasion.

Yep. It's just an escalation.

But I wonder what the purpose is of making it public? It would have simple to just quietly ramp up the personnel/aid.

"Advisors" for "Moderate Syrian Rebels." Oh goody. I guess US didn't learn jack from supporting the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan in the 80s. Or the mess in Iraq. Or Vietnam. Or pretty much any learning opportunity it had at cost of thousands of lives.
