Wh, mAh, V, etc...help a brotha out please

So i have to buy a replacement battery for my sisters laptop, which is officially listed as 14.4V x 72Wh. I'd rather not buy the official battery because its expensive and really, really sucks. I have these candidates:

I can do all the conversions and stuff to get them to Wh like the official battery is listed as, but what I need to know is...would it be better to get a battery with more voltage or more Wh? Or should i try to hit as close to the official spec as possible?

i think it has to be the exact same voltage or very close. Wh and MaH would be how long it will last. and it has to physically fit etc

So should I am for a higher Wh? There's one that's the exact same as the stock battery and a couple that are higher.

sure, higher would be better. as long as cheap manufacturers aren't overrating them.

You think it'd be bad getting 14.8v @ 5.2 amps/hr over 14.4v @ 5 amps/hr (14.4v is tr correct voltage)?

i think it would be fine and they are probably the same battery just rated differently. a lithium cell is inherently 3.6 to 3.7 volts. a 14.4v battery is just 4 cells linked together
(3.6v x 4 = 14.4v, or 3.7v x 4 = 14.8v)

I have a 9 cell battery, 11.1v, it depends how you connect them too. You must absolutely know the voltage and it must be very close. Also it needs to physically fit obviously.

does the one with the higher # last longer? If you had to only go with one which would it be? I've seen some list has higher mAh but the same # of cells. I've always seen higher # of cells but equal mAh

yeah higher is better. watt-hours is the end all spec because it is voltage times amp-hours. if it says same # of cells but higher mah then either it has slightly more capacity per cell or a knockoff brand that over-rates them. higher # of cells but equal mah, it would have to be a higher voltage and incompatible then. the link in my last post should clear up most of this. i dont have a laptop so i cant say anything about brands but like with AA batteries you stick to the brand names.

If I have double the cells but connect each pair in parallel then I would get the same voltage.

So ignore the cell count. Look at the voltage to make sure its compatible (bear in mind that some laptops can take high voltage batteries such as quite a few acers) and get the highest Whr you can.
