Funny I just heard on Maddox show Trump has a nuclear option. The current special investigator rules are not law they're justice department rules. He could simply order the rules changed.

Doesn't matter guys, there are no Russia/Trump connections. Trump says so, you know that's as good as gold.

Wouldn't it be just as bad to do this as it would be for Trump to fire Mueller? Would it be worth the risk? I guess it would buy the Republicans more time to push through their ugliness before jumping ship in order to woo voters.

From the article-

Legal experts said the ethics rule can be waived by the Justice Department, which appointed Mueller.

Rosenstein obviously already did that. Sessions can't interfere with his choices in the Trump/ Russia investigation.

The ethics allegation might serve to keep some of the faithful in the pews should things really go south for the Trump team. Other than that it's meaningless.

Something deck chairs, something titanic. Pulling this would be pulling the pin on the grenade that is the currently wavering support of GOP in congress. Hard to sell this move as anything but obstruction to anyone other than frothing lunatic Trump fluffers.

An innocent man wouldn't act like this

The problem is to prove it. There's more than guilt or innocence such as extreme paranoia. If it comes to it his behavior is problematic because he hasn't shown a normal response to pretty much anything. People display an array of behaviors when under such stress so I'm going to disregard his strangeness as "evidence"

If you look a little deeper, guilt & innocence become immaterial. The fact that he reacts the way he does indicates that he's unfit to be President.

He's unfit but remember we're talking about potential criminal charges. Guilt and innocence matter, always, when that's what we're talking. Impeachment itself doesn't have to have a criminal charge associated with it.

Have most of the pro-trumpeters been banned or have they come to their senses? They've become pretty silent in the last couple of weeks...

They left because this place wasn't safe enough for them. They prefer places where they can spout bs without being called out on it.

If you were listening to that segment, then you know what the expert she had on suggested would happen if they push this conflict of interest angle. We'll end up with two special prosecutors. One for whoever has a connection with Mueller's law firm, and Mueller for everyone else. That would not be a good development for Trump.

Using a nuclear option would be a huge invitation to impeachment proceedings. That said, I could see him actually doing it.

Well, defending Trump is like defending a kid denying he was trying to snag a handful of cookies while his hand is already deep down in the cookie jar with a fistful of cookies in it, so there's that rather monumental obstacle to try to get around before mounting any kind of argument in his defense.

If anything, there's those murky grey, shadowy areas within the fine print of the fine print where a miraculous successful defense of Trump's behavior can be mounted where 1+1=3 exists.

But it's already proven beyond doubt that ~98% of the Repub Party will defend Trump right to the very bitter end no matter how badly he screws things up for himself and the nation at large.

"Party before Country" is the battle cry for the GOP and the GOP is going to hammer that point home every single chance it gets. And that's where all of the deception, lies, misdirects and disingenuous intent from their leaders come into play.

The GOP leadership is compelled to do this for the simple reason that they have to lie to their constituents that they are so sympathetic to their concerns and will do everything they can to help them in order to get their votes, all while they stack their legislation ever higher with nothing but give-away's to the very wealthy.

edit - Trump and the GOP have done exactly this in all of its blatant glory from Day One of Trump's tenure.

Actually Doc Savage Fan fessed up to getting tired of winning and props for that, it is not many of us who is able to descend those trees we have climbed so very high. If there is one thing politics needs it is politicians with the ability to do just that.

I'm starting to believe that it is all because he is really fucking stupid. I'm sure there is something there, but likely not enough to nail Trump in court. Good thing for justice, though, is Trump is providing all of the unnecessary obstruction (for him) that could be necessary to prosecute him...all because of his boundless hubris. (If someone in his team is accused of doing something, he just gets angry. "No! They didn't do it, I did it! Only I can do it because I'm bigly smart!")

interesting times.
