That definitely have the best video card for $1500. ATI X800 cards are unsees in notebooks for the most part and the nVidia's do VERY well. I was going to suggest an HP zd8000, but the 256MB X600 doesn't compare to the 6800. The only downside to this laptop is that it is going to be huge and battery life will be below average. You might only look for a 15.4" version if you want something more portable. you probably can't find a 6800 in the 15.4"s, but you can get get a 6600! GL!

Yeah, but even on the 9-cell you still won't get the best battery life. IIRC, the 9-cell's don't top 90WHr's. An IBM Thinkpad 14" P-M w/9-cell gets ~5 hours. With a much larger screen (Isn't it the "bright" one too? Those have about double the brightness of a normal laptop panel, thus using more power) and a 6800 GPU, I wouldn't expect anything over 3.5-4 personally. But the 9-cell will make this usable out and about, no doubt!

Yes, it does consume more power, but is more powerful... I'm using it to monitor video in the field and it replaces about $5000 in bulky hardware I lug to almost every job... This will serve as a field monitor, vectorscope, waveform monitor, audio analyzer, and backup recorder... It has 6 usb2 ports, firewire, dvi out, and you can close it and use it as a tray to serve hamburgers to the crew and talent......
