For me it had to be CIV III what the hell were they thinking, to this day I still don't (nor want to anymore) understand this game.

CIV III get's my 2002 Dog award followed closely by Sub Command.

It's difficult for me to decide as I tend to buy only games that either are recommended and achieve good reviews and 9 times out of 10 that is proved to be correct. I'm not sure if this counts but for me the only game I bought this year and have not played is "Star Wars Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast". I dunno what I was expecting but it played just like the first one which incidently I did finish. This game however bored me to the extent I have not played more than the first 2 levels. Perhaps the game gets better which is what I have seen a few people say, but in all honesty, for me it couldn't get any worse.

Maybe oneday I will play it again, when I can play it at 2048 x 1536 x 64bpp at 300fps and 32x FSAA. :)

If I think on and remember another I'll be sure to post it. :D

I'm not sure what the WORST game was but the Most Disappointing comes down to two.

I gave Jedi Knight II away to my nephew a month after buying it.
I played UT2k3 even less than JKII. And I played UT non stop for a couple of years.

I agree completely. I didn't make it past the 3rd level before I had it up on Egay.

The ironic thing is I played and LOVED Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2. In fact, I love DF2 so much, its one of those games that always has a place on my HD...and it came out nearly 6 years ago.

I am sure one reason that I didn't really enjoy it so much was due to the system that I was running at the time. I have since upgraded and might enjoy it more. I doubt it though, the single player campaign just didn't do it for me.

Watcha talking about? If any thing CIV III gets my BEST game of the year, followed by Serious Sam 2.

As for the worst, GTA3

JK2 was awful. I'm so glad I borrowed it from a friend rather than buying it, saved me 2 trips to the stores, one to pick it up, one to put it back.

Really? GTA3 ranks on up there with my games of the year. In fact, if you take the time that I invested in it, then it is my GOTY.

Jedi Outcast was one of the best games of 2002. To give up before even getting the lightsabre and to have never tried multiplayer is just sinful! :)

I have no "worst game" since I avoid these by researching before I buy. Didn't even buy a disappointing game either last year...none that I remember at any rate.

I'd also go with JK2. By far, it was the worst of the games that I played.

Out of all the games I bought or tried this year, the worst for me was SOF2.

I didn't do more than play the demo of UT2K, so I won't include that.

WoW it was the worst of time it was the best of times. Goes to show that what's good for one may not be good to others.

I found SOF2 one of the best games I played this year, I'm also enjoying 007 Nightfire right now which is similar. Someone gave me their shrink rapped copy of UT2K and I just can't play that type of game and I don't have the heart to tell him that I removed it.

I dind't play warcraft 3 but I read some nasty posts about it. As for CIV III I checked Gamespot's worst game of the year article and they gave that honor to CIV III.

>edro13

Dude you must have one game that you were dispointed in.

But didn't the original Civ3 come out in October of 2001? So I just Gamespot is referring to the "Play the World" expansion pack?

Personally I thought both GTA3 and Civilization 3 were very good.

GameSpot was referencing the 'Play The World' expansion as you said, they gave the original Civilization 3 a pretty high rating.

As for my worst/most disappointing game of the year..... NeverWinter Nights.
Irritating and short single player campaign with a complete lack of depth, and waaay to linear.
MultiPlayer had potential IF you could find a good DM, but if I wanted multiplayer D&D I'd go out and play REAL D&D.

UT2k3 is great for benchmarking and eye candy. But as a game, it sucks. Definitely my worst for 2002.

I hafta agree. UT2k3 is pretty, but totally boring. They didnt innovate with gameplay at all. I actually prefer playing the original UT, but thats just me. I dont think its the worst game of the year, just disappointing.

Cheers

I can't see how Civilization 3 can possibly be the worst game of the year. I have only ever played Civilization 1, but man did I get addicted to that diddy.

Anyway, I can't really comment on the main topic because I don't buy games unless I'm pretty damned sure I will like them. I used to, but I don't have time to try out all kinds of games anymore so I cannot afford to make that mistake.

BTW they gave Bikini Karate Babes a 10 for presentation but a 1.5 overall LOL
